At the time Arcade gaming was enjoying quite a bit of success at family fun parks, and this Birthday trip was about to introduce me to one of the greatest series to every hit the arcades and consoles. To this day I still want to hit Block, Up, Up to finish characters off when I play as my man Scorpion...however, the urge to play any kind of Mortal Kombat has long since left. After MKII and MK3 things got pretty rocky in the "quality/fun" department of the Mortal Kombat series. I played many of the games, but the last 3 offerings I haven't bothered more than a few minutes playing. THIS GAME however has changed ALL of that!! This my friends is THE Mortal Kombat game that fans have been wanting and missing all these years. This is an absolute, all out feature fest of fighting modes and options. Playing locally against a friend is a blast and takes me back. Call me sentimental, but this game takes me back to my childhood playing against my brother when mom and dad weren't around (we had to convince them it wasn't to violent). As soon as you finish your first fight you'll have a smile on your face and be looking for another. The violence and sound really are what sell this game from the get go.
